Hello to all. I just ordered a ds708 that is probably going to get delivered this week. But after reading through the forums here I am wondering if I should cancel my order or return it once I get it. Apperrently the lawsuit from ford has really crippled the ds708. I own a small shop in Texas so I really need domestic US cars. I was really interested in the Ford pats keys reprogram and it was one of the main reasons I got the ds708. I was also wondering if it would be better to get the ms905. I have a limited budget of about $1500. Thank you.

I recommend the ms905 ,I sold my 708 and got it...It is much faster and has a broader capacity over the 708,and it is wireless.....

Thank you for your response. What vehicles do you work on the most? Could you relay some experiences as it relates to using the ms905 on domestics. This would be a big expense for me and I just want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth.

I work primarily on BMW and Jaguars....I can tell you the ms905 does damn good on bimmers, and on late model Jaguars ,say 2009-2011...it does fair on older models such as 2003-2008 models...I find the BMW software 8.00 to be one of the best releases yet. Jaguar needs to have more updates and I find the software release very slow for Jaguar.I would go for the ms905 easily over the 708...It is very fast and has more features...I have coded many times, and reset, parameters flawlessly.I also have done several Mercs....I will say both units are good, but the ms905 is just steps above the 708, just my opinion. As far as FORD is concerned, I do use cf-19 Toughbook, with sdd and ids.......to do series stuff...but overall I find myself grabbing my maxysis more than anything!

The lawsuit has impacted both tools not just the 708. But I believe that they will eventually fix the issues especially if they want to be able to have success at selling there new tool coming out. I have both the 708 and the 908 and the newer system is much nicer . That being said I glad I held onto the old tool . Every once in a while the 708 does something the 908 will not do.

Let us all know what transpired , whether  you changed your mind in time and  able to cancel DS708 order in time or was able to return the unopened DS708 and pay it's  return shipping to get full credit to purchase a MS905?

Thank you everybody for your input. I got the ds708 and had a chance to play around with it a bit. I even diagnosed a bad vt solenoid in a Honda with it. So the tool was paying for itself even on the first day I got it. However, the tool and software did seem kind of dated. The ds708 came with the newest diagnostic software. In case any body was wondering whether they could get a new tool with old software. It even came with a 8gb memory card instead of the 4gb original one. Over all I was pleased with the ds708 but decided to return it because it did seem kinda dated. I had bought it from harbor freight so I just returned it to the store and they refunded my money. I will be getting the ms908, not the pro. Can't afford the pro at the moment and I can always buy the pass through later. If I need it.
